I really loved drawing this page. If you haven't figured it out, she is playing two roles in Black History. The first is a slave or even a maid. The second is a Black Panther in the 60's. One represents suppression and bondage, and the other empowerment and liberty. Hope this makes sense in context.

Happy Friday! :D:D

It does make sense and I love the research behind the clothes. I did the same thing when designing Lucy Harris since she's from Texas, USA in the Victorian age. Plus, I researched how coloured orphans wound up... it wasn't pretty. I'm white and I sympathise deeply with people of colour. When I was in high school and I had coloured friends (and when I coloured, I don't just mean black), relatives used to warn me not to do that because boys who were coloured had a fetish for white girls and would try to attack me. That comment not only disgusted me, I can say outright that the biggest pig I ever met who couldn't take a hint was a white girl. Even when I told her I was straight and sure I was, she wouldn't get off my back. When she pushed me too far, I slapped her and only then did she leave for good.

Wow. That's intense. Well, I don't condone violence, but some people are relentless.

And yes, people of color really have struggled in this country. We have come a long way though. Thanks for being an ally. ;)

I feel I am an ally because I often find myself being the oddball so I know what it feels like to just want to be accepted without compromising who you are. And yes, that experience intense and it's part of the reason I had issues towards gay people for years. However, I got over my fear and realised that was just one bad apple.

Yes, please don't let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch. Being gay does not make somebody a bad person. Being a bad person makes someone a bad person. Lol. Facts.

I got that right away without your explanation. Very powerful imagery! Great work!

Iā€™m glad that was translated through the art. That make me feel good. Thanks. šŸ˜Œ
